Who we are
Roseburg Hockey Club exists to grow the game of hockey in Roseburg and the surrounding Douglas County community.
The goal is simple: create more chances for people to play hockey, learn the game, meet other hockey fans, and build a real local hockey community.
We started as a group of local players looking for more opportunities to play roller hockey and to find others who share the same love for the game. Since then, RHC has grown into a community built around pickup hockey, skills development, organized events, watch parties, equipment sharing, and helping new players get started.
At its heart, RHC is about more than hockey. It's community, friendships, competition, exercise, and one more good reason to get together.
And it doesn't stop at the rink. The people in this club look out for each other — on the ice and off it. That part wasn't planned. It's just what happens when the same people keep showing up for each other.
What we do
Open runs where you show up, split into teams, and play. No tryout, no season commitment, no pressure to be the best skater out there.
Cones, drills, and reps. Stickhandling, passing, shooting, and edges for anyone who wants to get better before the next run.
You don't have to play to belong here. Grab a seat, yell at the refs, and find out how many hockey fans live in this town.
Equipment is the first wall new players hit. We help connect people with gear that's outgrown, spare, or sitting in someone's garage.
Skating with other groups around Oregon is half the fun. We organize rides so distance and gas money aren't the reason you sit one out.
Meetups, demos, and get-togethers that put sticks in hands, introduce hockey to new people, and give the club a reason to show up for each other.
Everyone is welcome.
Let's grow the game together.

Accessible on purpose
Hockey has a reputation for being expensive, far away, and closed off to anyone who didn't grow up in it. We're working to make that untrue in Roseburg.
Off the ice
A hockey club is a reason to get a group of people in the same place every week. What they do with that is up to them — and this group decided early on that it would take care of its own.
Nobody wrote that down as a rule. It shows up in small ways, most of them unremarkable from the outside.
If you're on the list, you're part of that in both directions. Ask when you need something. Say yes when you can.
Beyond Roseburg
Roseburg Hockey Club also works to strengthen connections with the broader hockey community throughout Oregon. Local pickup games, trips to skate with other groups, carpools, community events — and, down the road, organized leagues and programs.
Every trip, every new face, and every borrowed set of gear expands what hockey can look like in this part of the state.
The vision: hockey becomes a lasting part of the Roseburg community. One player, one family, and one game at a time.
Partners
Growing hockey here takes more than one club. These are the local people and businesses helping us do it.
“The gym half of hockey.”
Personalized weekly strength plans built specifically for hockey players — beer league through junior, and families training together. It tracks your progression and gives you coaching feedback on what you actually logged.

If you run a local business, a facility, or a program that could help get more people on skates in Douglas County, we'd like to hear from you. Sponsorship, space, gear, or just spreading the word — it all counts.
What to expect
Nobody gets droppedin the deep end
A session has a shape to it. You'll know what's happening and when, whether you've played for years or you're lacing up for the first time.
The whole thing is a group effort — the court gets built by whoever's standing there, and it gets packed up the same way. That's the club.
Come as you are. If it's your first time, roll in a few minutes early so we can get you sorted before anything starts.
Nets, boards, markers — the court doesn't build itself. Grab an end and it's done in a few minutes.
We make sure every player has what they need to play safely. Short a helmet, a stick, or pads? Tell us — we'll find you something.
We circle up and pray for a safe run before anyone steps on the floor. If that's not your thing, step back for a minute and join us again once we're done — no one will think anything of it.
A few demonstrations to start — stickhandling, passing, shooting, stopping. New players pick up the basics; everyone else sharpens what they've got.
Teams get divided and we run pickup hockey. Sides get shuffled so nobody sits out and no one team runs away with it.
Everyone pitches in. Gear gets collected and returned, the court comes down, and the place is left the way we found it.
Get started
Send an email or find us on Facebook and say hello. Tell us whether you've played before — the honest answer is the useful one.
We'll add you to the group so you hear about pickup runs, skills sessions, watch parties, and trips as they get scheduled.
Print the waiver below and bring it signed. If you're short on gear, tell us before you come and we'll see what we can round up for you.
Paperwork — do this once
Everyone who skates with us signs a waiver before they step on the floor. It's one form, two pages, and it covers you for every club activity from the day you sign it.
Print it at home, fill it in with a pen, and hand it to a coach when you arrive. We'll have spare copies at the door if you forget — but bringing it signed means you skate sooner.

Questions
Yes, and this is the question we most want to hear. A good chunk of this club exists specifically so new players have somewhere to start. Come out, take it slow, ask questions. Nobody out there is keeping score of how you look in your first month.
The club started with local players looking for more roller hockey, and roller is where most of our own runs happen. We also organize trips to skate with other groups around Oregon, which is where ice usually comes in. If you only play one or the other, you're still welcome.
At minimum: skates, a stick, gloves, and a helmet. A helmet is non-negotiable — everything else we can usually work around.
If you're missing pieces, say so when you reach out. Connecting people with spare and outgrown equipment is one of the things this club actually does.
All ages. Families and younger players are a big part of what we're building, and adults who haven't played since high school are just as welcome. Youth players should come out with a parent or guardian the first time so we can meet you both.
We try to make playing as cheap as we possibly can. Cost shouldn't be the reason somebody doesn't skate.
That said, the club has real bills. We pay rental fees for the space, we maintain the shared gear, and we need to keep adding to it as more people show up. So a session fee is something we'll have to work out and evaluate as we go.
When there is one, it'll be the cost of running the session split between the people who showed up — not dues on top of it — and we'll tell you the number before we ask you for it.
Locations and times move around as we grow, so the schedule lives with the group rather than on this page. Get on the list and you'll get the details for the next run.
Then you're exactly who watch parties are for. Plenty of people in this club have never laced up and never plan to. Come watch a game with people who care as much as you do.
Stay in the loop
We're running pickup now and sorting out the rest. When a detail gets settled, it lands here and in an email — not buried in a comment thread somewhere.
Pickup runs are happening. These are the pieces still being nailed down:
Nothing here is final yet. When it is, you'll hear it.
Leave your email and we'll send word when runs are scheduled, when the location is set, and when something new starts up. A few emails a year, not a few a week.
Get on the list
Tell us your name, whether you've played before, and what gear you have. That's the whole process. We'll take it from there.
